Dickhead of the Week - George Pataki

Not seeking a fourth term for Governor of New York while also testing the waters for a 2008 presidential run has freed George "Crappy" Pataki to pander to the Religious Right.

A rare pro-choice Republican, Crappy plans to veto a bill making the morning-after pill available for sale over-the-counter.

Proving once again that the pro-life movement is less about preserving life and more about preventing sex, the Religious Right stands firmly against the morning-after pill, which keeps conception from happening. In other words, Dickheads of the Right, the morning-after pill prevents abortions. So what's the problem?

What's surprising to me is that Crappy Pataki has proven himself to be a fairly astute politician. He has, after all, been a three-term Republican Governor in a hard-core blue state. Even if he vetoes this bill, ain't no way the Righteous are gonna vote for a pro-choice Yankee of Greek descent.

So why screw the women of New York state while simultaneously denying them a viable form of birth control? Wait. I think I may have an answer in two words: Dick. Head.

I completely agree with you about the anti-abortion movement being more about sex than babies. But something very interesting just occurred to me when I was reading your entry today: If Roe v. Wade is overturned, isn't it reasonable to expect that we will see an uptick in "unnatural" types of sex? Paradoxically, the Pro Life movement will become the Pro Hummer & Cornhole movement. Just goes to show 'ya that anything can happen when politics and false morality collide.
